In the last twenty years, the progressive introduction in the academic paradigm of smart city led to the production of a large number of international scientific publications which declined in different ways the meaning from a broader concept and general. These scientific contributions are coupled with an equally substantial number of Institutional and Communications documents issued by the European Community as guidelines for the development of smart city.
